The Perfect Companion!

If you are looking for an easy addition to your household, take a close look at Bosco! Bosco is a gorgeous, taller setter boy that will be 9 years old on July 7th, 2007 and weighs 56 lbs. He had been with the same family since puppy hood and was used as a hunting dog. He was allowed to live inside, but from our understanding had to be in a crate a lot. When the husband didn’t want to go hunting with him any longer, he was just going to shoot him. Luckily a family member stepped in and got Bosco into rescue. Bosco joined our household and is a dream foster. He gets along just fine with his four fur siblings, is so happy to be always part of family life and is our constant shadow, following us around. He loves all people, but seems to take to men especially. The proverbial “Man’s best friend” certainly applies.
Bosco has the softest hair, like that of a puppy’s and keeps himself very clean. He is birdy and LOVES it when my husband plays the wing game (pheasant feather attached to a fishing pole that the dogs can point at and chase). He enjoys being out in the yard and is happy to greet people by the fence. Bosco is staying safely in the yard with our 3 ½ foot high chain link fence and doesn’t try to jump over it or dig under. Bosco will announce some strangers that walk by, but recognizes people from the neighborhood that come by frequently and is not a nuisance barker.

Inside he’s very laid back. He follows you around, carries his favorite rawhide with him most of the time and cuddles up to foster mommy closely at night in bed. Bosco is fully housebroken and learned our doggy door in a day’s time. He will go out and sniff out the yard for a while, but loves to keep close and wants to be your company. We can fully trust him to have the run of the house during the hours that we are gone and we’ve not had to crate Bosco at all since his arrival. Bosco likes to go for walks. He pulls quite a bit, but with the English Slip lead (which IBR sends with all their dogs upon adoption) he walks very nicely.

He travels nicely in the car by quietly curling up on the back seat. When he gets nervous (as he still doesn’t quite know what a car ride will bring these days, as it mostly has meant vet visits and strange new places) he can drool a little bit, but not badly and he’s not getting car sick. He has met up with some children and has been found to be kid-proof. He doesn’t mind being hugged either.

When Bosco was neutered, a tumor was found in the belly area and was removed. The tumor came out with clean margins, meaning no residual remained. Testing showed that it was a grade 2 mast cell tumor. Subsequent chest and belly X-rays are showing no other mast cell tumors. Bosco has been switched to Nature’s Variety raw meat patties for his food, and he’s also on several herbal supplements to boost his immune system further. As Bosco is a robust & healthy boy, the chances are good that he’s got a long, happy life in front of him.

Won’t you consider giving Bosco the loving, wonderful forever home that he deserves? I promise you, he’ll repay you with all his love and devotion ten-fold. We were hooked right away—you couldn’t ask for a sweeter boy to spend your life with.
